Soft Tissue Augmentation Treatments
Soft tissue augmentation treatments have become one of our most commonly sought-after treatments for making changes to the facial aesthetic for both women and men. Depending on each patient’s goals and expectations, there can be a variety of benefits of soft tissue augmentation treatments, such as achieving fast results.
Essentially, soft tissue augmentation treatments can add volume, fullness and also be used to achieve facial symmetry and rehydrate the skin.
At Esteem Clinic, we recognise that every face is unique, and every client has their own individual aesthetic goals. Before any soft tissue augmentation treatments, you will have a complimentary consultation to discuss your concerns, treatment suitability and your desired outcomes.
We pride ourselves on utilising high-quality soft tissue augmentation products. We have been performing cosmetic treatments for over 25 years, so you can be assured that your treatment will be performed by an understanding and experienced cosmetic nurse.
In the Spotlight
How soft tissue augmentation treatments work
Soft tissue augmentation treatments contain hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance (sugar molecule) in the skin that stabilises its structure, attracts and binds water, and improves elasticity. Soft tissue augmentation treatments add volume to the treated area instantly by using this naturally occurring substance.
Areas that can be treated
Soft tissue augmentation treatments are most commonly used to add volume to areas of the face and lips or emphasise the cheekbones. However, Soft tissue augmentation treatments are versatile treatment that can also be used to address fine lines, deep creases, and even make minor aesthetic adjustments to the chin and jawline.
The areas that we can treat with soft tissue augmentation treatments include:
- Nasolabial Folds (edges of the nose to the outer corner of the mouth)
- Marionette Lines (from corner of mouth down to jaw)
- Cheeks
- Tear Troughs
- Temples
- Orbital Areas
- Marionettes
- Jowls
- Jaw Rim
- Hands
Our experienced injectors can also treat more complex areas, such as:
- Nose alterations
- Ear Lobes
- Brow Tail
- True Lift
You may be able to treat multiple areas or target multiple concerns within the same treatment if desired. You can discuss this option during your complimentary consultation.

What to expect during your appointment
First, your skin will be cleaned and your desired treatment areas will be assessed. Then, injecting a controlled amount of soft tissue augmentation treatments, your injector will follow the procedure steps as agreed upon in your personalised treatment plan.
Overall, the soft tissue augmentation treatment generally takes around 30 minutes.
Although the needle used is very small, slight bruising and bleeding can occur at the site of the injections. You can choose to have your practitioner apply or inject a local anaesthetic to reduce any discomfort.
The level of pain experienced is really dependent on the individual. The injections themselves feel like a slight pinch. Typically, as the soft tissue augmentation product is being injected, you may experience slight pressure or a ‘stinging’ sensation.
It is very important to have a pre-treatment consultation. During this consultation, your registered nurse cosmetic injector will explain the procedure, assess your suitability, answer any questions or concerns you may have, and set realistic expectations.
A guide to your expected results
Soft tissue augmentation treatments are designed to add volume and lift, address lines and wrinkles, soften deep creases and folds, and provide facial symmetry.
Whilst every body is different, generally speaking, soft tissue augmentation treatments can last up to 12 months. However, please note that the duration depends on many factors, such as your individual skin type, skin condition, lifestyle and age – as well as the type and amount of product used.
After the initial treatment, follow-up sessions are normally recommended around every six to 12 months, depending on the individual and the product used.
When you meet with us for your initial consultation, we can discuss what you can expect for your results according to your personalised treatment plan.

Post-treatment care
AFTER TREATMENT
You will be given some personalised aftercare tips, according to the specific details of your procedure. It will be important to follow these in order to see the best results and prevent complications from arising.
General aftercare tips can include the following:
- Do not massage the area that has been injected. This will be done at the time of treatment if needed.
- If needed, pain medication can be taken to manage discomfort, but please avoid blood thinning anti-inflammatories.
- Bruising and/or swelling may make the site look uneven initially. If there is still asymmetry at two weeks, this can be discussed at your review. If additional treatment is required, extra costs may apply.
- Avoid physical activity, alcohol and caffeine for 24 hours following treatment.
- Do not expose yourself to extreme heat for two weeks.
- If you have been treated with soft tissue augmentation treatments in your lips, avoid very hot or cold beverages for 24 hours.
- If your cheeks have been treated, avoid sleeping on your side for a few days.
- No laser, IPL, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, facials, or facial waxing for two weeks after treatment.
- Results from treatment may take up to 14 days to take full effect.
- Do NOT lie down for four hours after treatment. This is to avoid the risk of pressure on the treated areas (from your pillow) and avoid the risk of accidentally rubbing the area.
- Be assured that any tiny bumps or marks will go away within a few hours. If you need to apply makeup within four hours after your treatment, only use a GENTLE touch to avoid rubbing the treated area.

Costs of Soft Tissue Augmentation Treatments in Gold Coast, Brisbane and Ipswich
The pricing of soft tissue augmentation treatments will be influenced by the details of each patient’s personalised procedure plan. The main factor will be the amount of filler needed.
Factors that influence cost:
- Amount of soft tissue augmentation treatment required: The amount of soft tissue augmentation treatment required to achieve the desired results affects the cost as larger treatment areas or deeper wrinkles may require more product.
- Treatment area: The size and location of the area being treated play a significant role in determining the amount of soft tissue augmentation treatment required. Different areas of the face, such as the lips, cheeks, or under-eye hollows, have varying volumes and may require different amounts of filler to achieve the desired results.
- The severity of volume loss or wrinkles: The extent of volume loss or the severity of wrinkles in the treatment area can impact the amount of soft tissue augmentation treatment needed. Deeper wrinkles or more significant volume depletion may require a larger quantity of filler to achieve the desired outcome.
- Desired outcome: The individual’s desired outcome also influences the amount of soft tissue augmentation treatment needed.
Some individuals may prefer a more subtle change, while others may desire more dramatic results. The desired outcome is considered during the treatment planning process to determine the appropriate amount of filler. - Individual anatomy: Each person has unique facial anatomy, including bone structure, fat distribution, and tissue density. These factors can influence how much soft tissue augmentation treatment is required to achieve the desired outcome. Some individuals may naturally have more volume or require less filler due to their specific facial features.
- Age and skin condition: Age-related changes, such as natural volume loss and skin laxity, can impact the amount of soft tissue augmentation treatment needed. Older individuals or those with more advanced signs of ageing may require more filler to achieve optimal results.
You will be able to discuss all of these factors during a consultation. To plan your treatment, you will discuss your personal aesthetic concerns, ideal results and expectations with your injector so that the right amount of soft tissue augmentation treatment and the specific procedure steps can be determined.

Possible risks and complications
- Allergic reactions: Some individuals may experience an allergic reaction to the filler substance, which can manifest as redness, swelling, itching, or rash at the injection site. Severe allergic reactions are rare.
- Infection: Any injection carries a risk of infection. Although it is uncommon, bacterial or viral infections can occur at the injection site, leading to localised swelling, pain, and redness.
- Bruising and bleeding: The injection process may cause bruising or bleeding at the treatment site, particularly if blood-thinning medications are being taken. While these side effects are usually temporary, they can take some time to resolve.
- Lumps or irregularities: In some cases, dermal fillers may result in the formation of lumps or irregularities under the skin. This can occur if the filler is not injected evenly or if it migrates to an unintended area.
- Tissue damage: Rarely, the filler material can damage nearby tissues, such as blood vessels or nerves. This can lead to complications like skin discolouration, scarring, or even tissue necrosis (death of tissue).
- Migration or displacement: Dermal fillers have the potential to migrate from the injection site, leading to an uneven distribution of the filler substance.
- Granulomas: In some cases, the body may react to the filler material by forming small granulomas, which are inflammatory nodules. These nodules can be visible or palpable and may require additional treatment to resolve.
You will be able to discuss the risks of dermal fillers during your consultation, as well as how to minimise or prevent them.

Clients will sometimes come to us unhappy with the soft tissue augmentation treatment they have received from other clinics/providers. If there are excess soft tissue augmentation treatments in certain areas, a soft tissue augmentation treatments dissolver can be used to remove/dissolve it.
