REJURAN is a cosmetic treatment that places polynucleotides, derived from salmon DNA, into the skin. It is used to support skin quality, including texture, fine lines and areas such as the under-eyes, neck and chest. At Hawthorne, it is administered by experienced registered nurses, usually as a series of sessions. It is not suitable for people with fish or seafood allergies, and there are other situations, including pregnancy and breastfeeding, where treatment is not recommended. Suitability, risks and recovery are all discussed during the consultation. Individual results vary.
Consultations can provide information about the general signs of ageing, with a registered nurse assessing each client’s concerns and explaining whether a treatment may be suitable. A consultation may or may not lead to treatment. Clients who have had cosmetic treatments elsewhere are encouraged to bring what they know about them, because it changes what is recommended and when.
Skin and laser treatments are delivered by dermal skin therapists at our two Gold Coast clinics in Bundall. The Hawthorne team can talk through these options at a consultation and help clients book at the Gold Coast.

A registered nurse assesses the skin, talks through the client’s goals and medical history, and recommends what is appropriate, including when a treatment is not the right fit. With REJURAN, for example, temporary redness, swelling, small bumps, and bruising at the treatment site are common in the first days. The nurse explains the risks that apply to each client, along with recovery and maintenance, during the consultation, so consent is properly informed.

It is also not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with active inflammation or infection near the treatment area, with a history of severe allergy, or while unwell or taking antibiotics. A registered nurse assesses suitability at the consultation before any treatment is planned.
